  1. Hamid Mir, Senior Pakistani TV Journalist, shot dead in Karachi. He faced threats from terror groups and from Taliban. He was shot by 4 unidentified motorcycle borne gunmen near a bridge when he was going to the office.
  2. Leading fertilizer co-operative IFFCO on Saturday said its subsidiary received permission from the Provincial Government of Quebec (Canada) to set up a $1.6 billion urea plant.
  3. former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had taken a decision not to contest in the forth coming elections. Earlier it was expected that he will contest from Piler Constituency in Chittor district of the state.
  4. SEBI came out with detailed corporate governance norms for listed companies providing for stricter disclosures and protection of investor rights, including equitable treatment for minority and foreign shareholders. The new rules, which would be effective from 1st October, require companies to get shareholders’ approval for related party transactions, establish whistle blower mechanism, elaborate disclosures on pay packages and have at least a woman director on their boards.
