  1. International Women’s Day is being observed across the world. The UN-selected theme for 2014 is "Equality for women is progress for all." In 1911, these celebrations were started for the first time. Clara, a German, had proposed this day. First international women’s conference held at Copenhagen. This day is celebrated to remember the achievements of the women. This day is a holiday in some of the countries.
  2. The Congress party today released the first list of 194 candidates for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mrs Gandhi will contest from Rae Baraeli and Rahul Gandhi from Amethi which are their present parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
