  1. Financial Planning Standards Board India (FPSB) appointed retired Justice BN Srikrishna as its Chairman. He has succeeded Dhirendra Swarup.
  2. Seven women have made it to the Fortune India’s first ’40; Under 40’ compilation that lists individuals who have managed to grow an idea into a profitable business. The list comprises of entrepreneurs and professionals aged 40 years and less as of December 31, 2013. Kavita Iyer Rodrigues, Director & COO of Theramyt Novobiologics and who co-founded the first biotech startup in venture capital firm Accel Partners’ stable in 2007 got featured in the list. So was Richa Kar Founder & CEO, Zivame.com. The other women entrepreneurs, managers, founders in the list include: Kavita Bhupathi Chadda, Group CEO Globosport; Simeran Bhasin India Marketing head Fastrack & New Brands, Titan Industries; Gauri Singh, Founder and Director, The Maids’ Company; Avani Saglani Devda, CEO Tata Starbucks and Neha Kirpal, Founder & Director India Art Fair.
  3. A US drone strike killed two suspected Al Qaeda leaders in Yemen’s central province of Marib.
  4. The Election Commission has created a multi-agency grid of revenue and security intelligence agencies to regularly update it about suspected financial movements as part of measures to curb use of black money in Lok Sabha and assembly polls.
  5. SpiceJet and Boeing ink record $4.4 billion deal for purchase of 42 "737 MAX 8 Aircraft" at India Aviation Show. The deal was signed between Boeing Senior Vice-President (Asia-Pacific and India Sales) Dinesh Keskar, SpiceJet CEO Sanjeev Kapur and Sun Group CFO, S.L. Narayanan, on the inaugural day of the Hyderabad Air Show-India Aviation 2014 in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh.
  6. Two Indian CEOs have been named in the Forbes magazine list among America’s most powerful CEOs under the age of 40 who head publicly-traded companies with highest market values. Google CEO and co-founder Larry Page is at first place for the 3rd consecutive year. Website hosting company Endurance International Group CEO and founder Hari K Ravichandran (38) has been ranked 19th, while asset management firm Altisource Asset Management (AAMC) CEO Ashish Pandey (38) is ranked 20th. The youngest CEO on the list is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (29). He is at the second place. For the 2nd consecutive year, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer (38) holds 3rd place and remains the only woman on this list.
  7. IPL 2014 to be held in 3 phases at UAE, Bangladesh & India. Bangladesh will be venue if Home Ministry denies permitting to hold game during election. United Arab Emirates will stage the initial phase of the IPL while Bangladesh was kept on standby for some of the matches by the BCCI, ending weeks of speculation over the venues of the high-profile event which was scheduled from April 16 to June 1. The initial phase of the tournament would be played out at three venues in the UAE - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah from April 16 to 30. Due to the lesser number of teams, the duration of the league has also been shortened this time to 47 days and 60 matches. It is much less than the 76 games played last season which was spread over 54 days.
  8. The Supreme Court has asked the Law Commission to look into the issue of hate speeches being made by leaders of political, social and religious outfits and consider framing guidelines to regulate such provocative statements.
