Honda Cars India has started production of the Jazz based Crossover prototype in India and the India-made prototypes have been shipped to Japan for testing purposes. Internally codenamed as 2FM, the crossover is expected to be christened as WR-V as the Japanese manufacturer has patented the naming rights. Honda is more likely to host the global premiere of this model at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November.

The Honda WR-V will get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC FlexOne (petrol/ethanol) motor taken from the Fit (known as Honda Jazz in India) and it comes linked with a standard five-speed manual or a CVT auto transmission.

The motor generates 115 hp of maximum power output and 149 Nm of peak torque. As for India, the proven 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel derived from the Jazz could be utilized. The styling of the Honda WR-V will be based on the Jazz premium hatchback and will rival against Volkswagen Polo Cross, Honda i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and the likes.
